Dry clean or hand wash your alpaca products.
For hand washing:
Fill a sink with cold water and a mild detergent.
Soak for about 5 minutes. Squeeze suds through item gently. Do not scrub or agitate.
Rinse thoroughly in cold water.
Squeeze out excess water. DO NOT WRING.
Roll between towels to soak up excess water.
Reform on a dry towel and let dry flat, turning over once to let both sides dry.
You may steam to get rid of any wrinkles but do not let the iron touch the item directly.
Storage
Like wool, alpaca is susceptible to moth and carpet beetle larvae.
Store away items for the summer after cleaning in air tight containers, preferably with cedar.
